LIGHTING DESIGNER
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Lighting Designer to join Technical Arts. In this role, you will be responsible for designing lighting systems for a range of architectural and commercial projects, including luxury hospitality venues, office spaces, museums, and super-prime residences. Your designs will play a key role in enhancing both the aesthetic and functional aspects of these spaces, contributing to the overall experience for occupants and visitors alike.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lighting Design Development: Conceptualise and develop innovative lighting designs for both interior and exterior spaces, aligning with the project’s architectural vision and functional requirements.

Collaboration: Work closely with architects, interior designers, and other project stakeholders to ensure lighting designs integrate seamlessly with the overall project design and meet the client’s goals and budget.

Technical Expertise: Specify appropriate lighting technologies and equipment, including LED fixtures, smart lighting systems, and energy-efficient solutions. Ensure designs meet all necessary codes and standards.

Lighting Plans & Documentation: Create detailed lighting plans, diagrams, and technical specifications for construction teams and contractors. Prepare lighting control systems layouts, circuiting, and dimming systems.

Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, and quality standards are met. Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.

Lighting Simulations & Testing: Utilise software (e.g., Dialux) to run simulations and present lighting concepts. Test lighting designs on-site to ensure they meet the intended visual and functional outcomes.

Site Visits: Conduct site visits for project assessments, installation monitoring, and post-installation evaluations to ensure the design is implemented to specification and make adjustments as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Proven experience as a Lighting Designer for architectural or commercial projects. Experience in designing lighting for various environments, such as retail spaces, museums, offices, public areas, and hospitality settings.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in lighting design software such as Dialux, AGi32, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, or similar programs.

Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of lighting design principles, electrical codes, and safety standards. Familiarity with lighting control systems and integration with building automation systems.

Creativity & Attention to Detail: Strong creative vision with the ability to translate design concepts into functional and visually stunning lighting solutions.

Project Management: Experience managing lighting projects from initial design to completion. Ability to work within tight deadlines and budgets while maintaining high-quality design outcomes.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present ideas clearly to clients and team members, and effectively collaborate with other design professionals.

Education: A degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Certifications: LEED certification or membership with professional organizations (such as IALD or PLDA) is a plus but not required.
DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES:

Knowledge of smart lighting technologies and trends in IoT integration.

Knowledge of AutoCAD

Familiarity with advanced control systems such as DMX, DALI, or Lutron.

Previous experience working with sustainable design principles and energy-efficient lighting solutions.
